A flying hoverboard! Is it in real?
Yes! The evolution from a self-balancing scooter to a flying hoverboard is real.
Now, this invention is quite different from the hoverboards invented before it.
What is the Flying hoverboard?
A flying hoverboard is a 1,000-horsepower machine that allows you to fly around with no connection to the ground. You stand on the flying hoverboard rather than strapping into it and there is nothing to hold on to.
It has a handheld lever to control the thrust, elevation, and directions of the flying hoverboard. It is powered by kerosene oil, carried in a backpack connected to the hover.
The most exciting feature of the hoverboard is its speed, it can achieve a top speed of 200 km/hour at a maximum altitude of 3,000 meters. In a few years, the excuse of traffic for getting late will become obsolete.
Who invented the Flying hoverboard?
Franky Zapata intended to be a helicopter pilot, but colorblindness prevented him. He created his own way of flying when he invented a flying hoverboard in 2012, powered with four turbo engines, 250 horsepower each.
Mr. Zapata Initially launched a water-propelled version of a hoverboard, which uses water pressure and jet nozzles to provide thrust to fly the hoverboard up to 70ft. Later when he fitted jet engines in it and powered it with kerosene oil, French authorities banned the machine.
The authorities later allowed him to work on his flying hoverboard when it caught media attention. The 1000 horsepower hoverboard has a load capacity of 102 kg. The turbo engines have up to ten times the power to weight ratio and more efficient mechanism in turning chemical energy to thrust which makes it a revolutionary invention.
Is Flying hoverboard safe?
You must be thinking about its safety and redundancy. Well, the fearful are caught as often as the bold. This machine is made for the bold but some of its safety features can be a motivating force for the fearful. The hoverboard uses algorithms, to combine the intelligence in the board and the pilot’s brain to stabilize and balance the jet-powered board.
Apart from that, it has two more engines on its sides to stabilize the speedy machine. The implanted stabilization features are independent of flight controls.
What makes the machine more durable and safer is its independent engine electronics and independent engine fuel supplies. The self-supporting system gives it an engine-out capability, Zapata claims it can safely land even if two of its engines stop working.
Is it easy to ride a flying hoverboard?
In the movie ‘Back to the Future’ the hoverboards look very hard to control still the hero manages to dodge the bad guys. Zapata’s hoverboard is more friendly since its Auto-hover mode allows the pilot to maintain a steady altitude without having to manage the throttle.
Though it looks easy to fly because of its safety features but bad news for rookies, it is impossible to ride it before you have a minimum of 100 hours of experience in the Hydro-jet flyboard.
Do we need a pilot’s license to ride a flying hoverboard? The answer is ‘No’.
How much the flying hoverboard costs?
Zapata’s flying hoverboard is one of the coolest things ever invented. Unfortunately, Cool stuff carries hefty price tags. What is the price of the coolest flying hoverboard? The price is still undecided since it is not in the market. Some websites have estimated its price to be $250,000/unit. Still cheaper than most sports cars.
Ride on a flying hoverboard by Franky Zapata
On July 25, 2019, he failed to cross the channel, but he did not lose hope. Again, on the 4th of August, Mr. Zapata carried a kerosene-filled backpack to test his Flyboard at a private airfield in the south of France with all the media attention and two helicopters escorting him.
He covered the distance of 22-mile in 22 minutes making it a historic event. No wonder why France military gave €1.3 million grant to Zapata’s company called Z-AIR, to develop the technology. It is indeed a game-changer.
